Last year, the Huntingdon Community Center celebrated an extraordinary milestone—100 years of serving Huntingdon County.
As we reflected on the past century, we were reminded that this building has always been about so much more than brick and mortar. It has been a place where children discovered new passions, neighbors became lifelong friends, families found support, and generations created memories that have lasted a lifetime. The stories shared during our Centennial Celebration were a beautiful reminder that the Center has touched countless lives because caring people chose to invest in their community.
While it was meaningful to celebrate our history, anniversaries also remind us that our greatest responsibility is to the future.
Because of the generosity of people like you, that future is bright.
This past year, the Huntingdon Community Center welcomed and served 4,926 children, teens, adults, and seniors through our programs and facilities. More than 1,407 participants took part in our sports and recreation and education programs, and 64 local children received scholarships that allowed them to participate regardless of their family's financial circumstances. Behind every one of those numbers is a child who gained confidence, a family who found connection, a new friendship, a healthier lifestyle, or someone who simply found a place where they belonged.
Your generosity also helped make our Center more welcoming, accessible, and vibrant. Families now enjoy freshly painted spaces, renovated bathrooms, a comfortable downstairs lounge, an updated game room, safer front stairs and railings, expanded educational opportunities, a new cheer program, continued improvements at Detwiler Memorial Field, and a thriving pickleball community that brings together players of every age.
These improvements are important—but what matters most is what happens because of them.
A child walks through our doors feeling welcomed. A teenager finds a safe place to spend the afternoon. Parents watch their children grow in confidence and character. Older adults stay active while building friendships that enrich their lives. Every day, the Center fulfills its mission by bringing people together and strengthening our community.
None of this happens without you.
The Huntingdon Community Center relies on grants, local businesses, and generous supporters like you to keep programs affordable, preserve this historic building and our other properties, and ensure that every child and family has the opportunity to participate—regardless of their ability to pay.
As we begin our next century of service, our vision is bigger than maintaining our facilities. We are committed to creating even more opportunities for children to learn, families to connect, neighbors to gather, and our community to thrive.
Last year, we celebrated our history. This year, we're building our future.
